About CHOSEN
It takes talent to make the struggle to succeed seem effortless, but that is the gift that separates artists like Montgomery’s Richo Boyd, aka Cho$en, from the everyday MC. While most rappers spend more and more time convincing the masses of their "hustle," Cho$en lets his work speak for his effort. With his first album, ’The Walk-On’, already in the streets and a second one on the way, Cho$en exudes a rookie-of-the year swagger. His first song penned at the age of 17 years old was "Lay Your Lyrics Down". While he doesn't site any one person as an inspiration, Cho$en does credit his mother and older sister for always being in his corner. His musical inspirations are another story. He sites artist like Eminem and the late Notorious B.I.G as being the reason why he decided to rap. And other artist like Common and BONE as easy listening. It's appropriate that Cho$en is getting a fresh start for his latest album because he wants to deliver a new style and hustle to The South. "It's a new year, everybody's on their hustle, back in the gym and I'm trying to give them some inspiration. This is music to chase your money too, work out--motivation music. The first single "Ms. Green Eyes" is produced by Killer Storms very own Ol’ Skool and finds Cho$en doing what he does best; blending radio ready sound beds with clever and memorable lyrics. Rapping about love gained and lost to “Green eyes and long pretty hair” Cho$en shows his female fans his sensitive side. "It's a great record, it's got a lot of style to it," he says. "I wanted a record that could show that I could touch different people with my music." Enlisting guests that include the singing styles of MeganMechelle as well as Q.Hunter plays to a variety of audiences on this disc, but there is no mistaking that it's his show from beginning to end. The club banger "Make It Swell” featuring Killer Storms’ upcoming group 410 and Ms. Sassy and "Come Ride With Me" helps the fans understand his reflection on his life and career. The street crunk "Backstabbers," produced also by Ol‘ Skool, lets the world know that there are haters in both the female and the male persuasion. "I just took it back to trying to make it in the game," he says with a laugh. "Everyone's either done it or tried to hate. It may not have been what they really wanted to do, but everybody's done it ." Other rewind worthy tracks like "The Bomb" , "So Long " featuring Ms. Sassy and the Ol’ Skool produced "The Bomb" round out an impressive collection that makes ’The Walk On’ worth the wait. Dubbed as the “creative new age double threat” no artist will come close to matching his boyish charm, wit and unassuming cool both on and off the mic. With a is production and management team and a pop of his collar Cho$en will indeed be considered "the rapper/songwriter of the future." "I'm trying to bring good music back to the game," he says confidently. "And anybody that's bringing good music, the hype is gonna follow them." So come along and take the ride you won’t regret it.
