About Cynicosis
Cynicosis
(Sin-ic-osis)
–adjective
Cyncosis: a state of permanent cognitive dissonance.
formed back in 2009 when four guys joined forces and started a band while attending Tafe to better our chances for employment.
From very diverse backgrounds, the four of us decided to write music to entertain and reflect the attitude(s) we hold in common, ie: a shared dissatisfaction with the status quo, suspicion of a hidden media/government agenda and indeed government without proper representation. Our material often contains strong anti fascist sentiment.
To some our attitude is nothing more than simple paranoia, but then Cynicosis by definition is the inability to believe any assertion without clear undisputed evidence, regardless of the nature of its delivery.
Our debut album “Lies from Uranus” has been well received by those with a social conscience... A mix of songs ranging from dark pumping moody tracks to up tempo passion filled anthems, “Lies” is destined to become a classic among followers.
Twelve songs inspired by the most important and relevant issues of our times, presented in the most entertaining form we can think of.
Cynicosis' live representation of the recorded material remains faithful to the original sentiment whilst adding a powerful live dynamic that is sparse yet warm and full in it's intensity.
We also perform selected tracks from our up-coming as yet untitled second album, occasionally even busting out into spontaneous improvised material reflecting the mood of the audience.
Dedicated to presenting the best possible live show, the three performing members of the group rehearse tirelessly in the pursuit of “that sound”. Using equipment carefully selected to achieve this, we combine and mix our respective skills into a powerful yet simple sound best suited for the live environment. The Cynicosis experience could be described as melodic progressive rock with a slight retro sound resulting from the exclusive use of stringed instruments and drums, combining with strong harmonies to provide powerful expression without the need for aggressive vocalisation. If you haven't yet seen Cyncosis perform, then come along and check out a live show!
