About Dan
Danny Kroonen is a recording artist and singer/songwriter from Dordrecht, Holland. Growing up in a musical and artistic family Dan began to show his musical talents at a tender age.
Age 11
Started to write English lyrics and learned to play the drums.
Age 15
Learned to play the guitar, piano and bass guitar. Started writing and arranging songs. Recorded his first song "No Way Out" in his home-studio.
Age 20
Wrote 'The Life of Angie' for the Dutch motion picture 'Angie' by Martin Lagestee.
The actual home-recording was used in the film. The singer on this track is Roel Sleiffer. Dan's father José Kroonen plays bass guitar. Dan programmed the drums, played guitars and synths.
Age 28
Released his CD 'Solitary Journey', containing four tracks, composed, performed, arranged and produced by Dan.
Though it seems there are a lot of time-gaps between his activities, Dan has always been busy writing and recording.
As of April 2006 Dan became the frontman of the band Reilly, handling guitars and vocals. This band shows a whole different aspect of Dan's talents and musical direction than the Solitary Journey project.

Dan about his music:
'A lot of people who haven't heard my work yet ask me what it is I do, and though I am influenced by bands such as Pink Floyd, Steely Dan, and artists like Dalbello, Rupert Hine and Bruce Cockburn, I find it hard to explain to them what my music sounds like.
Obviously, when you listen to my guitarplaying there's a lot of David Gilmour in it. He is my favourite guitarist, my absolute hero, so there's your Pink Floyd-influence.
And the same goes for the way Roger Waters writes and arranges. And of course his lyrics!
Dalbello had the most influence on me as an arranger, producer and lyricist. She's a genius!
I especially paid a lot of attention to the way she programmed and played drums. Listen to her album Whomanfoursays! A masterpiece!
Then there's Steely Dan... I think I am influenced by them in the sense of lyric-writing, perfection-wise and some piano-thingies that I do.
I grew up with their music, and have always been a big fan.
Bruce Cockburn is also important to me: the man has integrity and writes brilliant songs. He knows how to tell a story and has certainly touched my heart. He's a brilliant guitarist ! I actually met him in 1999. He's such a nice man!
And yet I think it is important to tell people that I do have a style of my own. It's mainly ME in the end... ;-)'
