About Doug LaVine

In May of 1985 Doug was involved in an accident and broke his neck, back and suffered other injuries as well. His Son was born in July of 1985. Doug realized that he had to dedicate himself to his son's upbringing. So began his life as a father to his Son. Doug had been performing in country music most all of his life up to that point and felt his Son needed him. His mother left when he was 10 months old so, that left Doug with the task of taking care of his Son and to repair his own broken bones! They spent a lot of time together, except for the time that Doug had to be away for some much needed surgery...to put himself back together again! It was not easy but he held on and they got through!

On October 25, 2005, at the age of 20, Doug's Son was killed, while riding in a car driven by a neighbor's son. He had been in town for a job interview and was on the way home when the accident happened. Doug was devistated and didn't know how he could go on!
To keep from falling into deep depression, he started writing new music. He wanted to write a song for his Son and spent every day working on that. After many months of trying and writing song after song...he finally had a song for his Son!
He contacted Larry Rogers in Nashville, Tenn. Larry is the owner and operator of STUDIO 19 in Nashville. They discussed the songs and Larry suggested that they get together and come up with a plan of how the songs should sound.
After almost two years after losing his Son.... he went into the studio and recorded his music!
"I sincerely thank Larry at STUDIO 19 for his guidence and advice. I also can not say enough for the musicians who played the session to record my songs." said Doug.
"The most difficult thing I had ever done in my life, was to sing the song "CHRISTMAS WILL BE BLUE"....the song I wrote for my Son. I could not get through it without crying! It was very emotional for me...and all the guys in the studio were so uderstanding and respectful for what I was going through."
So...after a twenty year layoff Doug had been jolted back into the thing that had held him together, most of his life! It was the music!
