About Jorgenson & Hamilton
"ETCHINGS"
Scott Jorgenson: piano, bass guitar
Anne-Marie Hamilton: drums, percussion
Scott and Anne-Marie slogged it out for six months perfecting their sound before recording for five days at Tiki Studio in San Jose, California. They are very proud of the result. Upon completion of the session, owner/engineer Gradie O’Neal offered them a contract with Rowena Records.
“Etchings” represents the best in instrumental music, a blend of pop, easy listening, rock and Latin flavor. The simplicity of piano, bass guitar, drums, and percussion creates a clean, crisp sound that’s never cluttered.
Each composition contains a variety of beats and styles, and no two tracks sound the same. The grand piano (an eleven-foot behemoth called an Ibach) has a rich lower register, while the upper register is sweet and pure. The melodies are complex yet at times deceptively simple. All are memorable. And each is a true composition, not merely a collection of ideas.
Scott has been writing music for years and has a backlog of over 100 songs. “Etchings” represents the best of his material.
Anne-Marie, who has quickly become a first-rate drummer/percussionist, performed on a six-piece D’Amico drum kit--about the best-sounding skins in the world. The toms, in particular, sing with fullness and roundness, yet cut through the mix and help punch up the overall sound. Light percussion includes bongos and the occasional cowbell (sometimes a song just needs more cowbell!), just enough instrumentation to drive the beat and keep things cookin’.
These fourteen original tracks, though difficult to conceive and perform, helped bring Scott and Anne-Marie closer to each other than ever before. The songs, and the artists behind them, are meant to last.
