About Lucia L
Lucia (Lucia Elle is her artist name) was born in December, 1990, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. From an early age, she started getting influenced by music and writing. By the time she was 9, she was already taking keyboard lessons and writing short stories. She later abandoned keyboard lessons but she continued to learn at school, being at the top of her music class.
In 2002, due to the economic crisis in Argentina, she was forced to move to Santiago, Chile, which was a traumatic experience. Lucia learned to pour those sad emotions in lyrics. An year later, using Marit Larsen as an inspiration, she started taking guitar lessons, which would be her favorite instrument in the years to come. That's when the songwriting began.
By the time she turned 14, she had to move back to Buenos Aires, which made her both sad and happy. She was finally coming back home, but that meant leaving her most meaningful friends behind.
The following years were hard, which led Lucia to turn into her songwriting more than ever. All during 2005, Lucia struggled to make friendships and missed her friends in Santiago. The next year, she suffered an eating disorder and a bad relationship with her parents. 2007 was the aftermath of all those problems, along with new ones, and they were all carved into songs. In 2008, she's looking up, taking keyboard lessons again and having released an internet project, called "Speak Your Mind".
The project was first supposed to be called "Angels To Demons" and to be an indepedent and amateur album released only on the internet. Although the idea is still the same, "Speak Your Mind" is an EP, meaning it contains less songs. Lucia decided to incluide the best of the best, and focus on making the best recordings for those songs.
"Speak Your Mind" is a five-song EP. Opening the EP is "Ghost Town", a strong song about being forced to swallow other people’s beliefs. Following it comes "Polar Life On Ice", which with acoustic guitar and heartfelt vocals speaks out to an old self, blaming the person you used to be for the person you’ve become. "Corner Of My Head" takes the number four spot in the EP, a song about unrequited love, that incluides keyboard, acoustic guitar and vocals. "Stolen Emotions" comes next. Vocals, guitar and keyboard deliver lyrics about a broken heart and how one deals with it. Closing the EP is "Sunny Days", which deals with the pain of a loved one. It was released on April 21, 2008.
Falling in and out of love and friends, lack of confidence, being insecure, broken homes. With inspirations like Brand New, Taking Back Sunday, Straylight Run, Eisley, Fiona Apple and Michelle Branch, Lucia writes heartfelt lyrics combined with mellow melodies and acoustic guitar.
