About OjOutLaw
Since 1993 Australian rock outfit, Dan O'Brien & The OjOutLaw Band has been an infamous amplified force of decadence and arrogant rock in the pubs and clubs of Victoria. The electric punk rock style soaked in whiskey and the viper tongued lyrical showman, Dan O'Brien entertained local crowds and enraged radio stations, having as many banned songs worldwide as hits and fan favorites.
Armed with a loaded microphone, dressed in a business suit, eye patch and a hangman's noose frayed at the end for a neck tie, Dan O'Brien quickly gained a reputation with his stage presence and highly charged frontman antics that scored the OjOutLaw Band it's reputation and popularity as a major contender in the rock n' roll "Hall of Shame". The chainsaw vocals sends a chill down the spine, and the melodic tragic quieter moments can almost sedate even the hardest critic into forgiveness. Although The OjOutLaw Band has seen many line up changes, the band has remained true to it's iconic legacy of the "Villain lives to see another day" fable.
From the first released single in 1993, "Girl Like You" The OjOutLaw Band had clearly defined their intentions. "No compromise, no apologies" simple ironic rock. The girl vs boy vs good vs evil tug of war in all human failures, weaknesses and naive blind arrogance, singer songwriter Dan O'Brien captured the stereotypical innuendo that entertained him from his influences Alice Cooper, Kiss and AC/DC.
During the nineties Dan O'Brien & The OjOutLaw Band continued to play backyard sheds, pubs, and clubs to private parties, fashion shows and casino's building on form and power, every fan seemed to bring along a critic! Picket lines, fanatical and political groups frothed at the mouth and protested against songs like "Bill Cosby is Big Time", "Tragic Movie", "Doctor Doolitle Goes To Jail" and "Born This Way". Radio refused to play singles and promotional album tracks, while ep sales saw a healthy surge brought on by the Disconnected (youth with a sense of humor) generation.
Through the Millennium and into 2010 Dan O'Brien has played countless fundraisers and awareness groups, charity functions and festivals. He has supported new talents and rising rock bands and is still in high demand for his voical growls and stage presence from small town bands to big city outfits playing everything from blues to metal.
Dan O'Brien & The OjOutLaw Band is experiencing another wave of popularity with the internet. Scores of new fans log in everyday to The OjOutLaw's band sites, like reverbnation and soundclick.com to leave e-mails of support and to buy music directly as mp3 downloads. The first internet only "for the fans" album "OjOutLaw" appears on music store sites like Amazon and iTunes and played on radio stations around the globe including Russia, India and America! Another internet album is in the works for 2010. Dan O'Brien solo album tracks are also popular, selling all over the world and the Promo video's "stirring the controversy" pot all over again.
As a solo artist, Dan O'Brien has lost none of that naughty edge, risky hook or devilish style over the years and when it comes to the wordplay and strategic bad attitude, Dan O'Brien & The OjOutLaw Band continues to rise from the ashes and burn out of control....
