About Pete West

Hi there thanks for stopping by. I was born in Western Australia in 1969 and live happily married with 2 children in the suburbs of Perth. I grew up listening to Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings along with various other country and rock'n'roll artists. My Mother was influential in my musical tastes and interests. Although it was not until recent years that I Started to play a guitar. Starting out as a Bass player and back up vocalist with various perth bands. Then after coming across a country music channel on pay tv I was hooked. This lead me to start playing the guitar and writing my own songs. My first song came after the birth of my children. The inspiration for my latest song Mama, was the passing of my mum some years ago to cancer. My wife encouraged me to write about it as a kind of closure. Wives can be very smart sometimes she knew better than I did how much it would help me to write about the pain and loss. My wish is to continue writing and one day record an album or perhaps have a recording artist choose to record my songs. Either way music will continue to be a big part of my life, as I live by the motto: Life without music is just Silence. Send me a message and let me know what ya think.
