About White City Graves

White City Graves is the culmination of Seattle rock scene veterans; Adam Ketola (Formerly of Slop Shot, Dammit Jim and I Fergit), Wes Scott (Slop Shot, Dammit Jim and Junkyard Philosophy), Lee Rude (Chelsea Speed Party and Lee Rude and The Trainwrecks) and Doug Lynch (Slop Shot, Guns of Nevada, Evil Twin and I Fergit).

They bring together a unique class of influences ranging from blues and jazz to hip hop, punk and metal. Early on Adam, Wes and Doug were formed as Slop Shot, what was best described as punk-a-billy. They broke up do to Doug relocating to Las Vegas. On Doug's return Slop Shot reunited. Time, however, had changed all the members. There was an evolution in writing styles and the punk-a-billy style was no longer pertinent. Their respective outlook had grown and they began in a direction that was much darker and heavier.

Wes opted move over to guitar and Lee Rude was hired on to field the bass. This turned out to be the 2 best moves ever made by this group. Lee is phenomenal at what he does and a consummate musician. Wes had always played bass like it was a guitar, so that too, was a perfect fit. Trashing all the old Slop Shot material and starting from scratch White City Graves was born. The name White City Graves even reflecting the more macabre outlook. Referencing H.H. Holmes, America's first serial killer.

While all these changes had taken place, there was never the abandonment of writing songs that are good. So they embarked down the path of something that could only be described as riff rock meets punk rock. Maintaining catchy hooks in each song and thinking out every part. No filler... Only killer is the band motto.

So what makes them different? Unique and interesting musical composition with catchy riffs and growling vocals that, at times, are menacing yet still poignant. It's impossible not to get at least one of their songs stuck in your head for days.
